About the Author
J. Lee Butts is the author of 22 published books and numerous magazine articles and short works. His book Brotherhood of Blood was runner-up for the Western Writers of America Spur Award in 2005. He’s worn many hats over the years (teacher, administrator, pool manager, IBM supervisor, and western author), and he and his late wife lived everywhere from Los Angeles to Dallas. Currently he’s hanging those hats back in White Hall, Arkansas.

I am still reading series as fast as I can!.There is cussing in book but just the kind you would expect from lawmen in the old West. Not using F-word like most new books(and anyone under age of 40) and descriptive phasing fits right in the story. Characters have a soul and heart. Could just believe that your sitting with the elder Hayden and reliving the times with him.Product details

Love Westerns and love the four Hayden Tilden stories I've read so far. Great characters and a real life mix of unpredictability and unexpected gentle humor along with great action. I'll continue reading the entire library, I'm sure.
Another good one. The action never stops. I have read the three previous books in the series and it seems I know the characters. Butts knows how to create a story that keeps you reading and wanting more.
J lee butts is a great writer loved this whole series. Make you feel like you are with tilden and his men and you believe the stupid things they did back then. Just what goes on today. You can't put the books down he draws you in.

J. Lee is my new favorite western author. In my opinion his works are right up there with Louis Lamore, only a bit more graphic as far as violence is concerned. However, those were violent times, and the Indian nation was a violent place.
